Showtime has officially announced that its financial drama Billions will conclude with its upcoming seventh season. Fans have suspected this since March, when actor Dan Soder let it slip during an appearance on NBC Sports Chicago’s Football Night in Chicago.
The seventh season will first premiere on Paramount+ on Friday, August 11, followed by a linear premiere on Showtime on Sunday, August 13 at 8/7c. Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks, praised the series for its exploration of power, money, and greed, asserting that this last season will be packed with the captivating dialogue and character dynamics fans have come to love. McCarthy also expressed enthusiasm about expanding the hit series into a global franchise through spinoffs.
In addition to Soder, Damian Lewis will also make an appearance in the final season, reprising his role as Bobby “Axe” Axelrod in six of the twelve episodes. The official logline for the new episodes hints at betrayals, shifting alliances, and further drama as the stakes continue to rise.
Showtime is currently exploring the possibility of four different Billions spinoffs, including two titled Millions and Trillions. Set in Manhattan, Millions will follow a group of young financial moguls, while Trillions will feature stories about the world’s richest people. There are also Miami-based and London-based spinoffs in development.
Knowing the show is reaching its end, fans are sure to tune in to the highly anticipated final season of Billions.
