Some of the cast of the popular series Dallas were not pleased to see their Season 9 storylines get discarded when Bobby Ewing, played by Patrick Duffy, returned from the dead. Duffy’s character suffered a tragic death in Season 8’s finale after saving his wife from a car accident. However, in an unexpected twist a full 31 episodes later, Duffy’s character was reintroduced alive and well, and Season 9 was invalidated as a dream in the mind of Ewing’s wife, Pam.

As a part of a People reunion for Dallas’ 45th anniversary, Steve Kanaly, who played Ray Krebbs in the series, expressed some of his co-star’s frustrations. He explained that due to the abrupt changes in the storylines, many cast members lost their storylines. Kanaly also mentioned that the series experienced a considerable dip in their audience after the controversial return of Duffy’s character.
