Gilmore Girls star slams Disney CEO during dual strikes, suggesting self-reflection Release Date

  • Gilmore Girls’ Scott Patterson criticizes Disney CEO Bob Chapek as Hollywood unions strike.
  • Patterson alleges Chapek’s quotes on Disney’s family values are hypocritical given the treatment of the company’s workforce.
  • Disney is facing labor strikes from IATSE and SAG-AFTRA over working hours, wages, and compensations.

Scott Patterson, best known for his role in Gilmore Girls, has called out Disney CEO Bob Chapek amidst ongoing strikes by Hollywood unions. Patterson accuses Chapek of displaying hypocrisy in his comments about Disney’s family-focused values while the company seemingly neglects to properly compensate and care for its employees.

Disney is currently embroiled in labor disputes with both IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) and SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists). The unions are fighting for better working hours, wages, and compensations for their members, including streaming residuals.

Patterson took to Instagram to criticize Chapek, using a quote in which the Disney CEO praised the company for creating family entertainment that unites generations. “We’re about families and generations and we create those bonds… and that’s what we love doing,” Chapek is quoted as saying. Patterson found this sentiment hypocritical, writing, “Family values, Bob Chapek? Really? Maybe you should take a reflection in the mirror.”

The actor continued, pointing out that Chapek’s salary is considerably higher than the average worker’s pay at the company. “When we are talking about sharing and caring for your employees, and taking care of generations, [Chapek’s salary] is 2,201 times the median pay at Disney, $52,184. Do you really think that’s fair?” Patterson questioned.

As the labor disputes continue, the outcome remains uncertain, with many film and television productions facing potential disruptions if no resolution is found.
