– The fake accounts were used to defend HBO’s shows and strategies
HBO’s chief, Casey Bloys, has admitted to using dummy Twitter accounts for trolling critics of the network’s shows and programming decisions. In an interview, he referred to the move as a “very, very dumb idea.”
Bloys confessed to using aliases on Twitter to defend the channel’s content and strategies against detractors. This comes after a recent report shed light on the existence of these fake accounts. Addressing the situation, Bloys acknowledged his lapse in judgment, saying, “It was a very, very dumb idea. It was a momentary lapse in judgment in an attempt to be protective of the work that we do and the decisions that we make.”
