The following text contains spoilers from the DC Studios movie The Flash, which is now in theaters.
After advanced screenings of The Flash, a standalone movie by DC Studios, there were reports that an actor from the nine-season CW series would appear in the film. However, well-placed sources from both the TV and theatrical side have assured that these reports were a case of mistaken identity. Andy Muschietti directed The Flash, which follows Barry Allen (played by Ezra Miller) using his powers to travel back in time to prevent his mother’s murder. The plot sees Barry altering the future and becoming trapped, forcing him to coax a retired Batman (Michael Keaton) into helping him correct the timeline.
The movie’s exploration of the “multiverse” concept allows for a visual representation of other timelines with their respective superheroes, leading to cameos of Christopher Reeve’s Superman, Helen Slater’s Supergirl, and the Superman that Nicolas Cage was almost cast for. But the rumored appearance by Teddy Sears in his role from Season 2 of The Flash was actually a generic representation of the Golden Age Flash.
Other TV superheroes that made cameos include George Reeves from Adventures of Superman and Adam West from Batman. Grant Gustin, star of the CW series, had previously warned that he would not have a cameo in the movie; John Wesley Shipp from the 1990 Flash series was also not included in the film.
