A new drama series titled ‘Nautilus’ based on the famous Jules Verne novel ‘20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’ has been picked up by Fox after Disney+ decided not to proceed with it. The show will be a joint venture between Village Roadshow Entertainment Group and Fox Entertainment.
This serialized adaptation of the classic 19th-century science fiction novel follows the story of Captain Nemo and his famous submarine exploring the mysteries beneath the sea. While initially set to air on Disney+, the project has now been moved to Fox. Contemporary storytelling techniques are set to be used to reinterpret the novel for today’s audience.
The show will be written and executive produced by James Dormer, an award-winning screenwriter known for his work on ‘Beowulf: Return to the Shieldlands,’ while the production will be overseen by Village Roadshow and Fox themselves. Despite its cancellation on Disney+, ‘Nautilus’ is now set to make waves on Fox, breathing new life into a classic tale for modern viewers.
