Kara Killmer, who played one of the lead roles in the popular TV series “Chicago Fire,” is opening up about her love affair with the windy city of Chicago, in light of the recent announcement of her departure from the show. The talented actress took to social media to express her appreciation and gratitude for her eight years spent living and working in the city.
In a heartfelt post, Killmer wrote, “After nearly a decade in Chicago, I have fallen head over heels for the city that I’ve come to call home. There is no place in the world like Chicago. I will miss your many moments of cinematic beauty: the spectrum of colors of Lake Michigan, the fireworks over the Chicago River, the deep-dish pizza at Gino’s East.”
Her character, paramedic Sylvie Brett, has been a fan favorite and an integral part of the show since its third season. Killmer went on to say, “Playing this character has been an extraordinary privilege. I never could have expected the way that our fans have embraced her and shared their love with me. I’m so grateful.”
In addition to her farewell post, the actress reminisced about her favorite Chicago moments, sharing stories and fond memories from her time spent exploring the city and immersing herself in its vibrant culture, food, and art scene.
Killmer’s final episodes on “Chicago Fire” are set to air soon, and while the series will continue without her, there’s no doubt that her character’s presence, as well as Killmer’s own love for the city of Chicago, will be greatly missed.
