- Netflix discontinues its cheapest ad-free plan
- Existing Basic subscribers not affected by the change
- New subscribers will have to choose between Standard and Premium plans
Netflix has recently decided to eliminate its most affordable ad-free subscription tier, which was called the Basic Plan. This change, however, will not impact those who are already subscribed to this specific plan, as they will be able to continue enjoying its benefits.
With this development, new subscribers to the streaming service will have to choose between either the Standard Plan or the Premium Plan. The Standard Plan, priced at $13.99 per month, offers streaming of content in high definition (HD). On the other hand, the Premium Plan, available for $17.99 per month, provides access to content in ultra-high definition (UHD).
It is noteworthy that this discontinuation has happened at a time when Netflix is consistently investing more in the creation of fresh and original content, thus aiming to attract a larger audience to its platform.
