Wednesday Season 2 is set to become an even bigger family affair with the addition of a new member to the Addams family. During Netflix’s annual Tudum fan event, cast members Emma Myers (Enid), Joy Sunday (Bianca), and Hunter Doohan (Tyler) confirmed a new family member will appear in the upcoming season, teasing “It is true, but we don’t know who it is!”
Joy Sunday expressed her hope that the mysterious guest would turn out to be Grandmama, Wednesday’s quirky witch grandmother known for her potions, fortune-telling, and knife-throwing. Jenna Ortega, who plays the titular character, revealed her desire to see Cousin Itt make an appearance.
So far, the series has featured family members Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), Gomez (Luis Guzman), Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez), Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen), Lurch (George Burcea), and Thing (Victor Teodor Dorobantu). However, there are many other distant relatives from Addams Family lore that could potentially make a cameo, such as Abigail, Gomez’s cousin through marriage, who was mentioned in the original Addams Family series.
According to earlier reports, Season 2 will place a greater focus on the horror aspect and abandon the love triangle storyline from Season 1. Jenna Ortega spoke about the shift during Variety’s Actors on Actors series, saying, “We’ve decided we want to lean into the horror aspect of the show a little bit more. We’re ditching any romantic love interest for Wednesday, which is really great.”
