HGTV pulled “Rehab Addict” from its programming schedule without warning, leaving fans wondering what happened to one of the network’s popular renovation shows.
Host Nicole Curtis broke her silence about the sudden disappearance. She’s been fighting legal battles that made filming impossible.
“I’ve been in court for years,” Curtis explained. The custody dispute over her youngest son created scheduling conflicts that derailed production.
The show aired for eight seasons before vanishing from HGTV’s lineup in 2018.
Curtis said the network wanted her to film during times when she needed to be in court. She wouldn’t compromise on her family responsibilities.
“They told me I had to choose between my show and my son. That’s not really a choice.”
The legal issues stemmed from a custody battle with her ex-partner. Court dates often conflicted with HGTV’s production schedule.
Curtis built her reputation by saving old homes from demolition. Her hands-on approach and preservation focus set “Rehab Addict” apart from other renovation shows.
The show featured Curtis restoring historic homes in Detroit and Minneapolis. She often worked alone, doing much of the demolition and renovation work herself.
HGTV hasn’t officially commented on the show’s removal. The network typically doesn’t discuss internal programming decisions publicly.
Curtis continues renovation work through her own production company. She’s explored options with other networks but hasn’t announced any new television projects.
What’s Next
The host said she’s focusing on her family and her renovation business. She’s not ruling out a return to television when the timing works better.
“The houses are still there. The work isn’t going anywhere,” Curtis noted.
Fans continue asking about the show’s return on social media. Curtis responds that she’s grateful for the support but can’t make promises about future television work.
