He revealed that at the time, the situation felt toxic, affecting him both professionally and personally.
Lowe explained, “When you leave something that is that big a part of your life, it’s a super unhealthy relationship,” He added, “It’s like staying in a marriage because you really like your wife’s shoes.” Despite admitting that his time on The West Wing ended on difficult terms, the actor still recognizes the show’s significance in his career and how it boosted his public image.
“I loved The West Wing, I loved playing Sam Seaborn, I loved the guy who created it [Aaron Sorkin],” he said. “You don’t get a lot of moments like that, so you want to hold onto it when it’s gone.”
