MTV has renewed RuPaul’s Drag Race for Season 18, marking another milestone for the competition series that’s become a cultural phenomenon.
The network announced the renewal alongside news that Paramount+ ordered All Stars 11, expanding the franchise’s reach across ViacomCBS platforms.
Season 18 will continue the show’s legacy of discovering America’s next drag superstar. The series has won multiple Emmy Awards since moving to VH1 and later MTV.
All Stars brings back fan-favorite contestants from previous seasons to compete again. The spinoff has become nearly as popular as the main series among viewers.
RuPaul Charles serves as host and executive producer on both shows. He’s guided the franchise through 17 seasons and multiple international versions.
The announcement comes as Drag Race continues expanding globally. International versions air in countries including the UK, Canada, and Australia.
MTV didn’t announce premiere dates for either season. Production typically begins several months before episodes air.
The renewal reflects the show’s strong performance across demographics. Drag Race consistently ranks among cable’s top reality competition series.
“The love and dedication from our fans around the world continues to inspire us,” RuPaul said in previous interviews about the show’s success.
Season 17 recently concluded with strong ratings for MTV. The finale drew the network’s largest audience for a Drag Race episode this year.
Paramount+ has made All Stars a key part of its reality programming strategy. The streaming service also hosts previous seasons and international versions.
Both shows feature the same format that made the original successful. Contestants compete in weekly challenges before facing elimination in lip-sync battles.
The franchise has launched careers for dozens of drag performers. Many alumni have gone on to touring, recording, and television careers beyond the show.
World of Wonder Productions produces both series alongside RuPaul. The company has overseen the franchise’s expansion since its Logo TV days.
MTV’s commitment to Season 18 ensures Drag Race will continue its run as one of television’s longest-running competition series.
