– Sage Steele leaving ESPN
– Settlement reached in lawsuit
– Steele accused the company of discriminatory practices
Sage Steele, anchor of SportsCenter, is parting ways with ESPN after resolving a lawsuit accusing the company of discriminatory practices against her. Steele, who had been with the sports network since 2007, claimed that she lost out on opportunities, promotions, and assignments due to her race and gender.
In a joint statement, Steele and ESPN said, “After discussions and careful consideration by both parties, we have reached a confidential resolution. We wish each other continued success in our respective futures.” The terms of the settlement were not disclosed.
While Steele is moving on from ESPN, her specific future plans remain unclear. As for ESPN, this comes as yet another high-profile exit, following a handful of other personalities’ departures in recent years.
