Stephen Colbert Mocks Trump After Late Show Emmy Win Video Release Date

Stephen Colbert couldn’t resist taking a shot at Donald Trump after The Late Show scored an Emmy win.

The CBS host used his victory moment to deliver a pointed comment about the former president during the awards ceremony.

Colbert’s show took home the Emmy for Outstanding Scripted Nonfiction Program at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The win marked another recognition for the late-night host’s political commentary.

"This is for everyone who stayed up late to laugh instead of cry about the news," Colbert said during his acceptance speech.

He then shifted his attention to Trump with characteristic wit.

“And to Donald Trump, thanks for all the material. We couldn’t have done it without you — literally.”

The comment drew laughs from the audience at the ceremony. Colbert has built much of his late-night success around political satire, particularly focusing on Trump during his presidency and beyond.

The Late Show has consistently ranked among the top late-night programs since Colbert took over hosting duties in 2015. The show’s political content has resonated with viewers, especially during election cycles.

This Emmy win adds to Colbert’s growing list of accolades for his work in late-night television. His previous wins include multiple Emmy nominations for his tenure on The Colbert Report and various writing credits.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards typically honor technical and creative achievements in television. Colbert’s category recognizes programs that blend scripted elements with nonfiction content.

Trump hasn’t responded to Colbert’s comments as of publication time. The former president has previously criticized late-night hosts who frequently mock him in their monologues.

CBS continues to support Colbert’s approach to political comedy. The network has extended his contract multiple times since he began hosting the show.
