Suzanne Rogers isn’t leaving Days of Our Lives, according to her representative who quickly shot down speculation about the veteran actress’s departure from the long-running soap opera.
The rumors began circulating on social media earlier this week. Fans worried that Rogers, who’s played Maggie Kiriakis since 1973, might be written off the show.
“There’s absolutely no truth to these reports,” Rogers’ publicist told Soap Opera Digest in a statement Thursday.
Rogers has been a cornerstone of the NBC drama for over 50 years. She’s one of the longest-tenured cast members on daytime television.
The 80-year-old actress took a brief hiatus in 1984 due to health issues but returned the following year. She’s remained a consistent presence on the Salem canvas ever since.
“Suzanne is committed to the show and her character. She’s not going anywhere.”
Recent storylines have featured Maggie dealing with family drama involving her stepson Xander and his relationship troubles. The character remains central to several ongoing plots.
Rogers has earned multiple Daytime Emmy nominations during her tenure. She won Outstanding Supporting Actress in 1979.
Days of Our Lives films six months in advance of airing. Current episodes were taped earlier this year with Rogers present on set.
The show recently celebrated its 58th anniversary on NBC. It remains one of the network’s most enduring programs despite declining daytime viewership across all soap operas.
Production continues at the show’s Burbank studios with no announced cast changes involving Rogers or her character Maggie.
