Anthony Geary remembers his longtime General Hospital co-star Tristan Rogers as an unpredictable force who kept everyone guessing both on and off camera.
Geary, who played Luke Spencer for decades on the ABC soap opera, shared his thoughts about Rogers during a recent interview. The two actors worked together extensively during their overlapping years on the show.
"Tristan was an enigma," Geary said. "You never knew what he was going to do next."
Rogers portrayed Robert Scorpio on General Hospital starting in 1981. His character became a fan favorite during the show’s peak popularity in the 1980s.
The Australian actor brought an unpredictable energy to the Port Charles police commissioner role. Geary noted that Rogers’ off-screen personality matched his character’s intensity.
“He kept you on your toes. That’s what made working with him so interesting.”
Rogers left General Hospital in 1992 but returned for multiple guest appearances over the years. His most recent stint on the show wrapped up earlier this year.
Geary retired from his Luke Spencer role in 2015 after winning eight Daytime Emmy Awards. He’s remained largely out of the public eye since leaving the soap opera world.
The two actors shared some of General Hospital’s most memorable storylines during the 1980s. Their characters often found themselves working together on various Port Charles mysteries and adventures.
Rogers continues to make occasional appearances on soap operas. He’s also stayed active with fan events and conventions celebrating daytime television.
Geary’s comments highlight the lasting friendships formed during General Hospital’s golden era. Many cast members from that period remain close despite the show’s many cast changes over the decades.
