- Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan hints at possible expansion of the show’s final season.
- Delay in Season 5 is attributed to uncertainties surrounding Kevin Costner’s involvement and the ongoing WGA strike.
- An unnamed spinoff with a still unknown premise is slated to follow the end of Yellowstone’s current iteration.
Despite the turmoil surrounding the popular series Yellowstone, creator Taylor Sheridan has shared some good news: the show’s delayed six-episode finale may be expanded. “If I think it takes 10 episodes to wrap it up, they’ll give me 10,” Sheridan shared with The Hollywood Reporter. “It’ll be as long as it needs to be.”
Originally, Yellowstone’s fifth season was intended to comprise 14 episodes, divided into two parts. The first eight episodes aired in 2022, while the remaining six have been postponed to late 2023 due to uncertainties about Kevin Costner’s involvement and the ongoing WGA strike.
It has been confirmed that Yellowstone will conclude with its fifth season, but an untitled spinoff of unknown premise will follow – potentially led by Matthew McConaughey. In his conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Sheridan also addressed the speculation about Costner’s role in the series and teased the fate of John Dutton, played by Costner, in a cryptic manner.
