Brett Hadley, who played Detective Carl Williams in The Young and the Restless, passed away at the age of 92, according to Soap Opera Digest. A cause of death for the actor has not yet been disclosed.

Hadley started in the role as the Williams family patriarch in 1980 and initially left the show in 1991. However, his character, Carl, was kept alive off-screen and was always mentioned as being “in the other room.” He eventually returned to the show in 1998, with Carl now having amnesia and starting a new life as Jim Bradley, never remembering his former family in Genoa City. His final appearance on the show was in 1999.

Prior to his work on The Young and the Restless, Hadley appeared in guest roles on several TV series, including The Name of the Game, Room 222, Ironside, The Waltons, The Rockford Files, and The Incredible Hulk. He also appeared in episodes of The Colbys, Highway to Heaven, and Beauty and the Beast. His film credits include The Mad Bomber, Funny Lady, Maid to Order, Next of Kin, and The Babe.
