Actress Yvette Nicole Brown, who played Shirley on the popular sitcom Community, spoke out after a fan expressed their dislike for her character. The fan commented on an Instagram post, hoping she would not be in the forthcoming Community movie. Brown responded by stating that she doesn’t care if they like her character and said, “Characters don’t exist.”
She went on to remind people that there are more significant problems in the world, such as a “twice impeached, sexually assaulting criminal” running for president. Brown also commented on the audacity of someone choosing to be “idiotically nasty” to a stranger, adding that the stranger doesn’t care.
As for the Community movie, which is set to fulfill the #SixSeasonsAndAMovie prophecy, the production is currently on hold due to the Writers Guild strike. The film is expected to feature original cast members including Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong. Donald Glover is anticipated to make an appearance, while Brown’s involvement is uncertain. Meanwhile, Chevy Chase is not expected to return.
Regarding the delay in filming, McHale stated, “That was a bummer because we were getting very close.” However, he also acknowledged his support for the writers, adding, “The writers need to be paid.”
