– Field of Dreams TV series was in development for Peacock
– Mike Schur worked on the project and assembled an impressive cast
– The show was ultimately not picked up by the network
A television adaptation of “Field of Dreams” was in the works for NBC’s streaming service Peacock, with Mike Schur at the helm of the project. Schur recently disclosed details about the ill-fated show and the all-star cast that had been put together for the project. Unfortunately, the show didn’t make it past the development stage and was not picked up by the network.
Schur, best known for his work on “Parks and Recreation” and “The Good Place,” was approached by Peacock to adapt the beloved 1989 film for the small screen. The proposed series would have starred a talented ensemble of actors, including Timothy Simons, Ken Watanabe, Gina Torres, Ro James, and Lena Hall.
The “Field of Dreams” movie starred Kevin Costner as an Iowa farmer who hears a voice urging him to build a baseball field on his land. The movie explores themes of redemption, hope, and the power of pursuing dreams, and went on to become a classic after its release.
Though Schur’s vision for the show didn’t make it to our screens, he is currently working on other projects, including the highly anticipated “Schmigadoon!” with Cecily Strong, Keegan-Michael Key, and other notable performers. Despite the missed opportunity for the “Field of Dreams” series, the story will continue to live on in the hearts of its fans through the original film and its timeless message.
